Mount Burrumboot Estate is in the Northern part of the Heathcote Wine Region, on the pre Cambrian soils of the Mount Camel Range. The red soils, and easterly aspect and slope of our hill, makes Mount Burrumboot Estate ideally suited to growing wine grapes. We follow sustainable practices in the vineyard – it is not unusual to see our sheep in amongst the vines in winter! All wines are made by hand, using traditional, artisanal methods of winemaking, in small batches, so that the quality and character of the fruit is preserved in the wine.
Although we have many different varieties of grapes, each wine reflects the terroir in which it was grown and made, as well as showing great varietal character. We make wines in a more elegant and refined style than some of the typical Heathcote heavyweights – although, having said that, there is nothing much more muscular than a great Petit Verdot!
Our Cellar Door is open 11-5 each weekend, all year round, except for during June and July. We look forward to welcoming you up here, to try our wines, and enjoy the views across Lake Cooper and the Colbinabbin Plains.
